They told me not to care

But what if I cared too much

They said to act like I was fine

But what if the tears helplessly streamed

But how do I ignore the aching burn left by the rip in my heart

But I struggled to believe them

They said have hope

But my hope wasn’t renewing like usual

I used to have mountains of hope

Optimistic was who I was

I saw the silver lining in every grey cloud

Until I couldn’t.

The moon came up and the sun went down everyday,

tomorrow became yesterday

But there I was

At least I was finally able to plaster the fake smiles on my face again,

and now the tears stayed chained till night

Laugh so you don’t cry is what I now go by

All because I learnt, as many of you will too,

Where there is light, there is always a shadow close behind.
