It happened in the night, I was asleep and had no clue what had befallen me. One second in bed and the next gone!

I stand in an emptiness, an hourglass tinkling down as my mind struggles to comprehend my predicament.

People go missing all the time and I pay it no mind because their families always find them, they’re always somewhere familiar to them. A park or a woodland or even a mall.

But this place isn’t familiar to me and I know I won’t be found.

I watch the sand fill the bottom of the glass and I take a deep breath.

I know I won’t be found because I’m old and I have no family left.
