POEM STARTER

Submitted by peoplearejerks246

Write a poem about a scream.

Where is the scream coming from? How long have they been screaming? Will it ever end?

The Scream & The Silence

The scream — it penetrates my ears,

And fills my mind with fear.

A dream? No this is real to hear,

Danger must be near.

My eyes dart, where is the source?

I blink in code like Morse.

Being smart, with silent pause,

To not attract the cause.

Others pass, they do not stop,

No alarm or calling cops.

Is this a farce, are they all props?

Does this go to the top?

A subtle glance, as one walks by,

Gives me a side eye.

A social dance, I avert gaze high,

But note he is a spy.

The scream - it echoes on full blast,

From the not so distant past.

It seems, that it may always last,

Like a spell that has been cast.

Then a voice: “Are you there?”

Said with gentle care.

“There’s no choice, he just sits and stares.”

They strap me to the chair.

A reflection, is that really me?

It looks like it could be.

No connection, to the man I see,

Straight jacket binding he.

The scream stops, I see the med,

The needle marks my skin deep red,

Heart rate drops, am I soon dead?

The scream was always in my head.
