There’s knife a stuck in my heart

Someone hurt me

I try not to remember who

There’s a level of embarrassment at the blood dripping down my chest

At the mess I’m making

I cringe at the people trying to help

Staring at my wounds

Open mouthed

Pity lowering their gaze

They tell me it will be alright

That millions of people go through the same thing every day

Most people have it worse

I’m not special because of the pain

Can’t I at least get that?

Tell me I look pretty with my eyes swollen

with my face puffy and my heart broken

Tell me it’s worth it

Tell me at least my audience will be entertained
