WRITING OBSTACLE
Your character has been struggling to understand an emotion. They finally ask their best friend about it, only to find out that they’ve been feeling it too.
Try to think of interesting ways you can describe the emotion, particularly as your character might not know the right word for it.
Another Weird Thing
George sat alone in his dimly lit living room, a perplexed expression on his face. For weeks, he had been grappling with an unfamiliar emotion, something elusive that danced at the edge of his consciousness. It lurked in the shadows, leaving him with a sense of unease and confusion. Tonight, he decided he couldn't keep it to himself any longer.
He spoke to his closest friend, Georgina. George's heart pounded in anticipation. Maybe Georgina could shed some light on what he was feeling. They connected, and George hesitated for a moment before finally blurting out, “Georgina, I need to talk to you about something. I've been feeling this strange emotion, and I can't quite put my finger on it."
On the other side, Georgina was silent for a moment before responding, "George, you won't believe this, but I've been going through the same thing. I can't understand it either."
Surprised, George listened intently as Georgina described the same confusing emotions that had been haunting her. It was as if they were both navigating uncharted emotional territory, unable to decipher the map of their own feelings.
Feeling a mixture of relief and connection, George shared his experiences in return. The two friends spoke for hours, exploring the nuances of their shared emotional journey. It became apparent that they were not alone in their struggle to comprehend this mysterious emotion. They found solace in each other's company, realising that sometimes, emotions are complex and difficult to articulate.
As the night wore on, George and Georgina realised that they were as one in their shared confusion. In the midst of their conversation, they discovered that understanding was not the goal. Instead, they embraced their split personality, grateful for the bond that had deepened through their shared emotional exploration.
