POEM STARTER

Write a poem that is grotesquely romantic.

This could mean a poem that’s overly lovey-dovey, one that has a romantic theme but grotesque imagery, or something else altogether.

The Love You Keep

I want to know love.

I mean really know it.

I want to hold your hand and feel as your thumb traces my skin. I want your touch to travel across my body

Not like that…I don’t want sex.

I don’t want lust, I just want love.

I want to feel your warm breath against my neck with soft kisses following my collarbone.

I want you to cover my scars in something worth living.

Make me forget about my past, and only see the future. A future with you.

Find me in everything, a quote, a place, an item you found at a thrift store, an unique stick, a heart shaped rock. Find me in the most obscure places just because it reminds you of me.

Tell me everything.

Every secret, every thought.

Every single thought you have, especially the ones about me.

I want to know love. Like Belle when The Beast gives her a library.

Give me a library. Let me read about love and think of you every time. Let me show you the books that I’ve sorted into its own genre. A genre that depicts you and only you.

I want that intimate love that is still so innocent.

I want you to love me so carefully when people are watching, and then I want you to love me so deeply when we’re alone.

I want love that is simple that. Love from another person. I want the love you keep separate from your friends, the type of love they don’t even know you have in you.

I want the love you keep sacred. I want that love to remain mine and mine alone.

I want to know your love inside and out.

I want to know love.

I want to really know it.
