I tried to scream. I begged myself to. But it never came out. My vocal chords were strapped tightly together and I could see hardly anything, my vision was blurred, but my hearing was heightened. I knew I was going next.

I just didn’t think I would like this.

Anna Marie. That was the name on the tag, That was my name.

It just had to be.

No clue where I was but I needed to find a way out, because there just isn’t something right about the man watching me from the corner.

His sharp teeth and hollow narrowed body making me slightly disquieted.

I immediately pull back to the opposite side of the room.

“Go on then.” He said. “Try to get out.” He continued. His voice was distorted, but normal in a way.

It was complete lunacy that I was chosen next. I mean come on, ADHD girl? Are we serious? I sighed and just sat down.

How was I to even be found? They told us our families would find us I think. The only problem being that I don’t have a family.

The man continued to watch me as I thought.

And as he stood he approached me, leaning down and sticking his hand out.

He was tall, almost 7” in total which was—terrifying? But I mean it was cool too. A girl can’t lie.

I grab his hand and he pulls me up, suddenly a door appears, slowly creaking open as the buzzer on the tag flashes green.

“Target found.” It exclaims on repeat.

The man looks down at me, I look up at him with wide eyes.

“I’ve waited so long for this.”
