STORY STARTER

Create a story that ends with character saying “I’m not a traitor. I was never on your side.”
Prologue
My life fell to pieces. All because of a crazed god who killed his predecessor. Who in turn killed my family, ripping everything I loved from my hands. And snapped my world into two. Literally. I hope to kill him. And I’m nearly there. But I suppose I should start at the beginning. The VERY beginning…..
My father slapped the dull edge of his sword to my chest.
In return I heav my mace and slamming it overhead at him. He blocks, catching it in the grooves of his sword. He pushes it back and leaps at me. His blade work grows faster, hands moving like vipers as he passes his sword back and forth between them.
Another blade cuts our battle to an end and sends my father’s sword flying.
It’s the Guard Keeper, Elias. Otherwise known as The Page. Sending messages to and from different people.
“You know Grant. There’s a thing called a gun, try using it sometime.” He says to my father.
“Those blasted things are a waste of money and not true to the knights code.” My father spits back.
“Knights code, yeah, sure.” Elias replies smartly.
“Anyway, Warren needs you in the Relic Room. And he very specifically asked for both of you.”
My father simply nods, grabbing his sword and shooing me out.
“You know, if you want to survive the right of duel, you. Are gonna need to do better than that. After we see whatever the heck Warren is up to, back at it, got it!”
He stares at me intensely as I mutter an agreement.
We walk in silence, leaving me to the comfort of my own thoughts, my own anxiety….
“Screws, I’m going to die.”
But for my luck we arrive. The door is already open, partially, as if someone ransacked the place.
My father knocks softly. “Warren?” He calls. In the room, stacks of paper shift and move as Warren comes scrambling out.
He gives me a sheepish look as he glances at all his papers. I search his face, but before I can say anything, he yells,
“We are all going to die!”
My father pinches the bridge of his nose and murmurs something irritatingly under his breath.
“What!,” he takes a deep breath, “is it?”
“The uh, well some…were not real Grant. The dimensional theory makes no sense, there is some god writing our fate, and I think that I broke it. With this. I think now our destiny is being written by ourselves. But I can’t be too sure. Now Kappar is after us. And…and!”
He shakes me violently, “It sent monsters to kill us.”
As if his words were a prophecy, a loud screech slices through the air. Followed by screams.
Warren tries to run as all goes quiet, but he fails, slipping over his papers.
My father is the only one who leaps into action, he slams the door closed. The sound echoes loudly. We wait, silently. Waiting for…..three long jagged claws slam into the door. Three more follow. A mad howl comes and the doors rip apart.
My father turns to me, “ If I die, find Raine. Find him, now RUN!”
The monster rips through the door, sending wood fragments flying. I stare at it, frozen by fear.
But adrenaline floods my veins, and so I run, sliding under the belly of the beast.
It snarls and clicks repeatedly with its claws. A gutteral whistle follows after its heavy breaths. Everything seems to slow. It’s smooth head turns to stare at me directly. Then it slams its claws into my father, as if knowing I’d be in agony.
But there’s no time to cry, so I run. Faster and farther. Into the courtyard. I can hear a voice coming from long behind me.
“Shh. My sweet, shhhhh.” The voice says.
I turn and look the way I came. It’s Warren. He’s petting the beast like it’s a friendly dog.
“My sweet sweet girl?” He says to it again as if he’s asking it a question.
He stares me down. His eyes blaze with fire. Their a fiery red hue. Burning me. With no emotion at all he whispers just loud enough for me to hear, “Leave no survivors.”
I run again.
But this time I don’t look back at all. I can hear the clicks of its claws against the stone, a crash as it slams though wreckage. The whistle after it breathes is like a death call.
I burst through the castle doors and out into the field surrounding. I slip behind a large boulder.
Suddenly a crack forms in it. Going all the way down. Splitting it in two.
The beast is no longer chasing me.
“Hmm. This boulder split in two. Just like the earth will be. It’s awe inspiring at how the earth can be so fragile.”
A fury black as night clouds my mind.
“Warren! Why are you doing this! You were our top advisor!”
He stops his chanting that he was doing.
“Do you know what Kappar is? I wouldn’t think so. Kappar is the lost kingdom. I was the king of Kappar. And your father played a very big part in it’s destruction. The sea and the earth continue to fight like he and I. But the earth doesn’t want you, so I guess the sea will have to do. I’m not a Traitor. I was just never on your side.” He says to me as he floats in the air.
A force yanks me up into the air, to float right In front of him. He grabs my arm. A burning sensation begins to grow where he touches. It grows hotter and hotter. All until the pain makes my eyes tear up.
“Watch with me Saelen! Watch as all you know….DIES!”
The ground beneath us, splits wide open. The chasm that replaces the ground yawns widely. The dust is so much that it blurs my vision. Warren begins to laugh, harder and harder.
Once the dust is gone, so is my city. The chasm stretches for miles. Almost like…
“The earth split in half.” I murmur.
He gives me a crazy grin as he drops me, not into the chasm but into the ocean.
The waves lap over me. My arm bursts with pain. I crane my neck to look at it. There’s a sigil branded to it. Where Warren touched. Sharp whispers plague mind as I stare at it but one word sticks out over all.
“The Leviathan.”
I don’t know what it means.
A large object comes flying at me. It’s my mace.
Warren calls down to me.
“And here’s your mace for your troubles. I always do love a good show!”
The shaft is split in half, making it uneven and awkward to hold. Large winds twist and turn the sea.
………
My life fell apart. And now I’m stuck on the ocean, a place I was always taught to fear.
“Hey!”
I look up from my own wallowing. A broken boat is seemingly drifting towards me.
Two figures stand on it. Calling to me.
I put my hands as I high as they can go and wave like a mad man.
As they drift closer, with the help of an oar, I can see that it’s a man and a woman.
They haul me aboard their ship and wait there. Not introducing themselves, just waiting for me.
The man finally says something, and with a smirk, “Not a very good day for swimming, eh stranger?”
“Shut it Toris, you know well that we don’t talk to outcasters if they don’t talk first.” The woman snaps.
“I’m just saying Lena, if he’s stupid enough to swim in these tides then he must be insane. But you know. Unlike me who’s only questionably sane.”
“Why did you save me?” I rasp.
The woman, Lena talks before the man can.
“We don’t have much, but I have a tendency toto help strangers in need. So who are you?”
I shrug my shoulders and sit up a little straighter.
“I am Saelen of Caelora. The next in line to the throne. And I’m gonna kill that god, that destroyed everything I’ve ever known.”
End of Prologue.
—————————
Wow! That took a lot of brain power. But this is my second draft of the chapter. I think I did somewhat well. I hope you all enjoy it.
And relating to my “Please Read!!!” Writing. Yeah I didn’t know that there was regulations on which Daily Prompt could remove your writing. That is completely my bad. I’ll remember that in the future.
But thanks for all the support. And my question for you today is: “What do you think of this first prologue?”
Congrats on reading this far, have a good day!
