VISUAL PROMPT

Your protagonist is awoken by a sound that they didn't expect yet; their dragon egg has begun to crack.
Reusion
(OK so I found this visual prompt and instantly thought back to the dragon rider license exam prompt a couple days ago and decided this is when Asher and Reusion technically met for the first time)
So after you technically pick out your egg, you have to then take it home and care for it… My teacher said the eggs will not be hatching for another three months so we were able to get the egg prepared and ready.
Now Nightscream eggs are very finicky about how they are to be kept. They’re technically house plants. Kind of dumb if you asked me. They require way too much warmth but yet have to be in full darkness. They hate getting wet, but sometimes enjoy the humidity. Please tell me that does not sound like a house plant to you. Too much water, not enough water, terra-cotta, no terra-cotta, not enough food, to much food. Picky picky, picky.
It took me two weeks to try figuring out how to suffice all of its needs by putting it in a greenhouse that was dark with a UV lamp. The only thing that my teacher failed to mention about two weeks after I decided what I was gonna do she told me that I would have to keep it in my room to form a bond, including if it hatched I would be the first thing my Dragon saw. So I ended up making a little greenhouse in my room which of course took up half the space.
A month later in my matte black dragon egg started showing little specs of silver that looked a lot like stars. Now as a 13-year-old boy the first thing on our mind isn’t that maybe I should go pick up a book about my Dragon. Oh no, no no. I just let it be. Let it be in its natural habitat like OK we got this. (The silver specs ment it would hatch in about a month).
So not even one month later, I decided to finally go pick up a book about what kind of dragon I got, which is a Nightscream. So as I was sitting under one of my lamps reading this book, I hear a little crack and look up. It came from inside the greenhouse. I gulped really hoping it was just the lamp settling in into place, but then another one happened.
At this point, I wasn’t even two pages into the book when my egg hatched with a frightening shrill screech. Also, it was the first full moon of that month when Nightscreams are usually born. Wish I picked up a book a little sooner. I quickly threw off the lid to the little greenhouse I made for the egg and pulled it out so I was able to watch it hatch.
After watching the little Dragon poke its head out from the egg, I realize I feel bad for women giving birth. But that’s beside the point. In front of me, the little dragon looked at me with ice blue eyes. I instantly felt a bond for some reason just like I did when I picked out his egg. He let out a little chirp, and I smiled.
I named him Reusion because it used to be the name of one of my best friends, which was a dog I had when I was younger. The name has always stuck with me and I wanted to name my little dragon that. Honestly watching that egg hatch and my best friend be born. There’s nothing that could’ve stopped me from forming a strong bond with him.
