theres no echo or beginning

you cant see it with your flitting eyes

its there when you least expect it

different than nothing at all

when you open your door and find nobody home

holding your breath underwater for a limited serenity

hiding in plain sight in subtly overhwhelming exchanges

alone with your thoughts and no comfort to be found

it can be scary at first

summoning the demons fighting within you

creating an enironment so hostile

that distraction becomes a life preserver

i hope the breath may flow in and out

like the tides pulled by the moon

as i look up with stars in my eyes

an overflowing of seawater spills down my cheeks

eventually it all slows down

theres that something that returns

it fills my ears with gentle nothingness

buzzing absently i finally notice its presence

ive gained something that only i know

transformed the pain into comfort

at least for now i feel softer

and found peace in the silence
