The Fool
I used to be a kid
I used to not know
What got rid
Of all the people
I used to be a child
I did not realize
That the thoughts than ran wild
Weren’t made by what’s behind my eyes
I used to be näive
And never knew to care
About the time I used to plead
To live and play elsewhere
I used to be a fool
Who danced in the rain
I thought I could self-rule
Goodbye, that’s all I have to say
2
The Magician
Pick a card
Any card
I’ll say it will get you far
I shuffled the deck
I promise you
You can trust me, through and through
Oh, no! Look at that!
You wasted your money!
On a man with a mask and a hat!
What a shame,
I promise I didn’t try
To scam and to lie
It just happened!
It’s how I was raised!
I have to make money some way!
Alas,
No I’m trapped
In bars and a mat
It’s not my fault
They decided to trust
A man with a mask and a hat
3
The High Priestess
Look at them
So innocent and young
Look way, way, down
At the kids, on the merry go round
They play and laugh
And don’t think that
People will judge what they say
Because they say it every day
But I know better
We’re not birds of a feather
But I’ll agree with him
So I’m not stuck in
My isolated tower
And I can stay in power
Even if I need to keep quiet
Because they mustn’t start a riot
I can never state my opinion
Or else you would need to fix it
So I’ll keep my thoughts way down deep
Until th day death comes to reap
Maybe then I find a way
To express the thoughts I have every day
